alfabet Tops Competitors in Comprehensive Study of Enterprise Architecture Products by Technical University of Munich

alfabet Outperforms Vendors in 14 of 17 of the Study's Categories
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(Business Wire)--
alfabet Inc., the leading software provider in strategic IT
planning and management, today announced that its planningIT software
was the top performer in the latest Enterprise Architecture Study from
the Technical University Munich. The independent study is based on
rigorous first-hand tests of all major EAM software products.

alfabet enables companies to strategically plan and manage their
IT to realize business goals. Its planningIT software is unique in
tightly coupling business priorities and IT deliverables with current
and future initiatives.

The Technical University of Munich is one of the few elite
universities in Germany and is renowned for its IT program "Software
Engineering for Business Information Systems." Enterprise Architecture
is a focal point of the program. The university published an initial
Enterprise Architecture vendor study in 2005 and published a second
study Enterprise Architecture Management Tool Survey 2008 in April.

alfabet scored best in 14 of the 17 categories studied against all
main competitors in the space including Mega International, IDS
Scheer; Telelogic; Troux Technologies; Adaptive; BusinessObject
Solutions, Inc.; Metastorm and Embarcadero Technologies. Those
categories, in which alfabet scored highest, include the following:

   Specific Functionality

   -- Impact Analysis & Reporting

   -- Importing, Editing & Validation

   -- Creating Visualizations

-- Interacting with, Editing of and Annotating Visualizations

   -- Communication & Collaboration Support

-- Support of Large Scale Data

   EA Management Support:

   -- IT Architecture Management

   -- Infrastructure Management

   -- Landscape Management

   -- Demand Management

   -- Project Portfolio Management

   -- Strategies & Goals Management

   -- Business Object Management

   -- SOA Transformation

The survey was undertaken between October 2007 and April 2008 by
the chair for Software Engineering for Business Information System
(sebis) at the TU Munich. Thirty industry partners provided input on
every day EA management tasks and real-world scenarios against which
the participating tools would be evaluated. To accommodate the
diversity of EA management approaches, the results of the study are
not compiled into a simple ranked list of tools, but are aggregated by
two kiviat diagrams (aka spider diagrams).

"The result, an evaluation of tools on key performance indicators,
enables the reader to individually match their specific requirements
with the tools investigated. Thus, the survey provides a structured
support for decision making rather than a simple one- or
two-dimensional ranking" said Professor Dr. Florian Matthes, Technical
University of Munich.

The results confirm alfabet as the undisputed technology leader in
the field of EAM and strategic IT planning. alfabet's planningIT was
able to handle large amount of data and larger user counts as required
in a procession approach spanning more groups and people to automate
the EAM efforts. Moreover, only planningIT was able to support all
process-oriented activities.

"We are thrilled that the Technical University Munich's evaluation
of products resulted in alfabet scoring best overall and in the
majority of the enterprise architecture categories," said Erik Masing,
CEO and president of alfabet. "alfabet's strength is offering an
integrated, collaborative platform that helps organizations maintain
continuous transparency of their current and future IT landscapes
states and manage their IT for maximum investment return. While the
integrated platform is key to our product strength, we're also very
pleased to be recognized as the leader in individual components that
make up the solution."

The report is available for general purchase in print for 450 EUR
plus VAT (German excl. MwSt.) and in print and PDF for 1200 EUR plus
