Blunt: As Oil Nears $130 and Gasoline Continues March to $4, House Democrats
Believe Answer to Spiraling Prices is More Lawsuits

WASHINGTON, May 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- House Republican Whip Roy Blunt
(Mo.) issued the following statement this afternoon as the price of oil came
within pennies of breaking $130/barrel - while all Democratic leaders could
muster for the American people was warmed-over legislation seeking to
authorize lawsuits on energy-producing nations abroad:

"As oil approaches an unheard of $130 a barrel and gasoline continues its
steady march toward $4 a gallon, American energy consumers are rightly
demanding this Congress produce a genuine, 'commonsense' energy plan - one
that brings down prices in the short-term, and addresses our dangerous
dependence on foreign energy sources in the long-term.

"Unfortunately, with only days before Congress breaks for Memorial Day recess,
what we saw on the floor today was more theatrical in nature than substantive
in one.

"The American people understand that suing people isn't going to lower the
