Companies Disappointed by Union Rejection of Proposed Wage and
Benefit Increases
SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--
The leading building maintenance companies serving the Bay Area
(including Silicon Valley but excluding the City of San Francisco)
continued to work for a negotiated agreement for a contract covering
their janitorial employees there.
"We are disappointed that the union rejected our proposal to
increase janitors' pay and benefits in excess of 20% over four years,"
said Jim Beard, chief negotiator for the Bay Area Maintenance
Contractors. "Nevertheless, we remain hopeful of a resolution in the
mutual best interest of workers and our customers. In the meantime,
the contractors will continue to carry out normal operations for our
customers."
The maintenance contractor companies involved in the bargaining
include fifteen companies ranging in size from small family-owned
companies to regional and national companies.
