Farmington Hills City Councilman Robert Mason Seeks Re-Election

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--(Business Wire)-- Today Farmington Hills City Councilman, Robert Mason has formally announced that he will be seeking re-election to the City Council this August. Mr. Mason was appointed to the City Council in January 2008. He filled a vacancy that was created when City Council member Jerry Ellis was elected Mayor in November 2007. Although in office for only a few months, Mr. Mason has launched a strategic initiative with the nation of Singapore to create jobs in Farmington Hills, lobbied Washington D.C. decision makers for more government funding, and negotiated and approved along with the City Council a new waste management contract that reduces the current cost to taxpayers while enhancing services. "I have been given great opportunity, and with every opportunity I have met it with great responsibility," stated Mason. "The people of Farmington Hills have given me the honor to serve them. Now, I look to meet the challenge of being a Councilman with the responsibility that the people deserve." Mr. Mason is also working with the City Manager on a new initiative that will benefit residents of Farmington Hills by looking to maximize current Homestead exemption provisions for property owners. Mr. Mason is a seasoned business executive who has worked on many high level projects for DaimlerChrysler. As the key officer for the Chrysler Group's strategic business discussion & corporate governance processes, Mr. Mason was responsible for DaimlerChrysler's global production strategy in which the long-term direction of over $25 billion (USD) in 17 countries worldwide was defined. Currently, Mr. Mason represents Farmington Hills as a member of the National League of Cities International Council because of his expertise in the areas of international culture, commerce, and trade.
