Germany yet to agree car tax changes - fin ministry

BERLIN, June 6 (Reuters) - Germany's ruling coalition has yet to agree changes to a car tax that would aim to curb carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a Finance Ministry spokesman said on Friday, dismissing a newspaper report of an agreement.

Newspaper Bild reported in its Friday edition that the ruling parties had reached an agreement on changing the tax.

Asked if there was an agreement, the spokesman said: "No, there is not." He could not say when an accord might be reached. Chancellor Angela Merkel insisted late last month that the "Kfz" tax change, part of a climate protection package agreed by the coalition last year, was not dead despite differences in her government.
