AIDS Thought Leaders Share Best Practices in HIV/AIDS Services Delivery as Disease Enters its Third Decade

Flowers Heritage Foundation Hosts Two Day Forum to Spur New
                    Thinking in Addressing Epidemic
OAKLAND, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The Flowers Heritage Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to
providing solutions for public health issues, today announced a
two-day HIV/AIDS forum -- A Think Tank Experience - The Third Decade:
New Directions and New Models in HIV Services -- on June 6 and June 7
in Oakland, CA. Key stakeholders and opinion leaders will convene to
discuss and chart innovative best practices for addressing HIV
screening, service delivery, and care.

The objective of the Think Tank is to facilitate the exchange of
best practices by local governments and city networks to strengthen
the capacity of local authorities and community healthcare
stakeholders so that they can effectively respond to HIV/AIDS. The
meeting will be attended by public health leaders from Washington,
D.C., Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, Miami, and the San
Francisco Bay Area. Financial support for the Think Tank Experience
was provided by Gilead Sciences, Inc.

"Flowers Heritage Foundation is committed to making a significant
difference in the fight against AIDS," said Gregory Edwards, executive
director, Flowers Heritage Foundation. "The goal of the Think Tank is
to foster new ideas that will help organizations better reach and
serve persons affected by the disease within a new paradigm."

The Think Tank will be facilitated by renowned educator, writer,
and lecturer, Dr. Robert Fullilove, of Columbia University, Mailman
School of Public Health. He has published numerous articles on
minority health with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS and sexually
transmitted diseases.

"While HIV is a prominent issue in the world of health with a
strong, general consensus on what has to be done in the realm of
prevention and treatment, often the programs and the policies that are
proposed are either extremely broad in their application or very
narrowly focused on just one population or just one geographical
area," said Dr. Fullilove. "With this two-day discussion forum, we
hope to strike a balance between the two extremes of this continuum
and emerge with an actionable roadmap for municipal communities."

"Since the first diagnosis more than 25 years ago, HIV and AIDS
are no longer isolated by gender, sexual orientation, geographical
location, ethnicity, or any other boundaries," said Dr. Marsha Martin,
executive director, Get Screened Oakland. "There are new realities now
and we want to talk about it in the context of what we've learned from
the past, what we understand today, and what we want to consider for
tomorrow."

Outcomes from the meeting will be presented by satellite from the
XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City in August, 2008.
