Chevy to award five lucky high school grads with new cars for perfect
attendance
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- During Fall 2008, high school
seniors at more than 200 schools in 26 Tennessee counties learned that having
perfect attendance would make them eligible to win a new 2008 Chevy Cobalt
sedan this June. Close to 500 students faithfully attended all 180 days during
the school year. Five of these students will be awarded new Chevy Cobalts in a
drawing held at the Sommet Center on 501 Broadway in Nashville on June 13, 10
a.m. - 2 p.m.
Now in its second year, Drive For Perfection is an initiative presented by
Chevrolet and the Middle Tennessee Chevrolet Dealers in conjunction with the
Tennessee Department of Education, and was created to give Seniors an
additional incentive to finish their high school careers strong in order to
adequately prepare for post-secondary education or the workforce.
"Literacy and education are two initiatives that Chevrolet and its dealers
champion through their support of several initiatives in the Southeast
region," said Tim Hudgens, Chevrolet marketing manager for GM's Southeast
region. "The Tennessee Department of Education is charged with the significant
task of educating the state's youth, and our local Chevy dealers are honored
to provide support to them and high schools in their communities."
Perfect attendance was determined by an eligible student's attendance
record for the first 180 days of the 2007-2008 school year as submitted by the
Local Education Agencies. In order to select the winners, final lists were
developed with eligible students from all five school regions and the grand
prize event will be held at the Sommet Center on Friday, June 13. All
qualified seniors must be present for the reverse drawing to win the Cobalt.
Scheduled drawings include:
-- 10:00 am - County Region 1: Rutherford, Cannon and Williamson
