Greenberg Traurig Expands Its Washington, D.C. Office with the Addition of Jacob B. Pankowski WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)-- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced that Jacob B. Pankowski has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a shareholder in the government contracts practice group. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Pankowski was a partner with Nixon Peabody in Washington, D.C. "Jacob is a tremendously effective attorney with over 25 years in government contracts," said Fred Shaheen, national chairman of Greenberg Traurig's government contracts practice. "His experience with defense, aerospace, and homeland security clients will complement the existing capabilities of our government contracts practice. Jacob is well-regarded in the Washington legal community and is a great addition to our team." Pankowski's practice is focused on representing government contractors and subcontractors of all sizes in their dealings and disputes with federal, state, and local governments. His practice covers a broad range of areas and concentrates in contract and subcontract performance issues, claims analysis and preparation, information technology issues, rights in technical data and intellectual property, and systems integration contracts. Pankowski has been at the forefront of issues relating to homeland security and participated in crafting recent federal legislation. As a result, he has actively counseled clients participating in the federal and state homeland security marketplace, addressing a variety of issues relating to compliance with the Homeland Security and SAFETY Acts, including obtaining indemnification relating to the sale of anti-terrorism technologies. An active member of the National Defense Industrial Association, Pankowski served as the two-term Chair of the Contract and Acquisition Management Committee. He earned his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his undergraduate degree (magna cum laude with honors) from the Indiana University Bloomington, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C. and California.
