National Press Club to Host 'NEWSMAKER' Media Briefing on 'The Folly of
Attacking Iran'

WASHINGTON, June 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by
the National Press Club:

National Press Club "NEWSMAKER" Media Briefing
Friday, June 6
12:00 p.m.

National Press Club (Zenger Room)
Stephen Kinzer
Former New York Times Foreign Correspondent
Will discuss
"The Folly of Attacking Iran"

Kinzer is a longtime New York Times correspondent and author of the book All
the Shah's Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror. In
2003 Kinzer published All the Shah's Men, which told how the CIA overthrew
Iran's nationalist government in 1953. He will explain how this intervention,
which seemed successful at the time to the U.S. government, resulted in
long-term negative outcomes that hold warnings for current efforts to
intervene forcefully in Iran.

Kinzer's most recent book is A Thousand Hills: Rwanda's Rebirth and the Man
Who Dreamed It. He spent more than 20 years working for the New York Times,
most of it as a foreign correspondent. His foreign postings placed him at the
center of historic events. He now teaches journalism and political science at
Northwestern University, writes a world affairs column for The Guardian, and
contributes articles to the New York Review of Books and other periodicals.
