MILFORD, Conn., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- A new SUBWAY(R) restaurant has
opened in Bell Gardens, Calif. Opening earlier this week, the newest location
of the world famous submarine sandwich chain is located at 6420 Gage Avenue.
The new restaurant, a milestone for the chain, is the 500th SUBWAY(R)
restaurant in Los Angeles County. Its opening is a testament to the
entrepreneurial spirit of the chain's franchisees and the ever increasing
popularity of healthier meal options.
"I looked to become involved in a business that provided health conscious
choices and I am excited to be able to bring Subway's fresh products to the
people of Bell Gardens," says Ajay Beri, a Subway franchisee since 1994 and
owner of the new Gage Ave. shop. "It's an honor to be part of this great
milestone for the Subway chain and I invite everyone to stop by to try our
submarine sandwiches."
Beri, along with his wife, Rita, are the owners of 19 area SUBWAY(R)
restaurants, including another Bell Gardens location at 6815 Eastern Avenue.
All together they employ nearly 200 members of the surrounding communities.
Always willing to help, their restaurants have been involved in numerous
sponsorship and fundraising programs with local schools and fire departments.
Hardy Grewal, Los Angeles County Development Agent for the SUBWAY(R) chain
adds, "We are all very excited to reach this important milestone.
Congratulations to all of our franchisees who do a wonderful job to enable us
to grow in such an amazing manner. They all play an important part in the
success of the Subway brand in Southern California."
The SUBWAY(R) chain is famous for its made-to-order footlong and 6-inch
submarine sandwiches, wraps and salads. Sandwiches are served on Italian,
wheat and a variety of seasoned breads that are baked fresh daily in each
restaurant. Hot and cold subs are available with a wide assortment of meats,
cheeses, vegetables and condiments, all added per customer request. The
chain's menu features eight sub sandwiches with 6 grams of fat or less and
allows patrons to customize their orders according to their own taste
preferences. The SUBWAY(R) restaurant on Gage will also open early to serve
breakfast.
The SUBWAY(R) restaurant chain is the world's largest submarine sandwich
franchise, with more than 29,000 locations in 86 countries. The SUBWAY(R)
chain has surpassed McDonald's(R) number of locations throughout the USA,
Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, and with regional offices in
Amsterdam, Beirut, Brisbane, Miami, and Singapore, the SUBWAY(R) restaurant
chain was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. Their
partnership marked the beginning of a remarkable journey -- one that makes it
possible for thousands of individuals to build and succeed in their own
business.
The SUBWAY(R) brand has been ranked the number one global franchise
opportunity in Entrepreneur magazine's 2008 "Annual Franchise 500(R)" listing.
