Description:
The 15 Minutes Gallery opening and artist reception are being hosted by
the Pittsburgh Technology Council to showcase the works of regional artists in
a contemporary business setting. The exhibition will feature 47 local artists
and nearly 100 pieces of artwork in a variety of media. Members of
Pittsburgh's art and technology communities are encouraged to attend this
complimentary event which also will feature a wine and cheese reception, live
music from WYEP's local artist of the year, Ben Hardt, as well as a silent art
auction with original etchings by Dali, Picasso and Renoir.
Founded on the principle that art and technology share the elemental
characteristic of innovation, the 15 Minutes Gallery is the first project of
the Pittsburgh Technology Council's Art & Technology Initiative which seeks to
invest and support art and technology throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
Through this progressive initiative, the Council recognizes the inherent
synergy that exists between the region's technological and artistic
communities and the impact each component will have on the region's future.
Joining the opening night as a special speaking guest will be Mitch Swain,
CE0 of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. Jane Haskell, the Pittsburgh
Center for the Arts 2006 Artist of the Year, and Barbara Krause, owner of the
Sirani Gallery, served on the 15 Minutes Gallery jurors panel.
The event is sponsored by Dollar Bank, AlphaGraphics and the Sirani
Gallery.
The Pittsburgh Technology Council is the first and the largest regional
technology trade association in the United States with more than 1,400 member
companies within its geographic territory of 13 counties in southwestern
Pennsylvania. Its mission is to contribute to the success of the region's
technology businesses, and it focuses on developing the economic strength of
three main industry clusters: information technology, life sciences and
advanced manufacturing.
