Three-month Euribor surges to new 7 year high

FRANKFURT, June 6 (Reuters) - The Euribor rate for three
month unsecured euro lending between European banks surged to
its highest level in more than seven years on Friday, a day
after the European Central Bank said it could raise interest
rates next month.
 Three-month Euribor EURIBOR3MD= jumped to 4.967 percent
from Thursday's rate of 4.866 percent, reaching the highest
level since December 2000.
One-week Euribor extend its recent fall, dropping to 4.159
percent from Thursday's near three-month low of 4.165 percent,
the lowest rate since March 17.
It compares with the 4.0 percent minimum bid rate on the
ECB's weekly refinancing tenders.
Euribor rates are fixed daily by the Banking Federation of
the European Union (FBE) shortly after 0900 GMT.
Three-month rates form a benchmark for much short-term
commercial lending in Europe, and one-week rates give an
indication of banks' very short term financing conditions.
