A landmark NATO summit in Chicago endorsed an exit strategy that calls for handing control of Afghanistan to its own security forces by the middle of next year but left questions unanswered about how to prevent a slide into chaos and a Taliban resurgence after allied troops are gone. Bush says will abide by decision on Guantanamo

ROME | Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:05pm EDT

ROME (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Thursday he would abide by a Supreme Court decision that said Guantanamo Bay prisoners have the right to go before U.S. federal judges to challenge their years-long detention.

"We'll abide by the court's decision. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it," Bush said during a news conference in Rome where he is on a weeklong trip through Europe.

"We'll study this opinion and we'll do so ... to determine whether or not additional legislation might be appropriate," he said.
