FACTBOX: Security developments in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan reported until 7:50 a.m. EDT on Friday:

ZABUL - A soldier serving with NATO-led forces and an Afghan policeman were killed in separate Taliban ambushes on Friday in the southern province of Zabul, a police official said. Five policemen and three foreign soldiers were wounded.

GHAZNI - Seven Taliban fighters were killed in a NATO air strike in Ghazni province on Thursday night, an official in the province said.

PAKTIA - In neighboring Paktia, two women and more than a dozen Taliban militants, were killed in air bombardment by U.S.-led forces late on Thursday, an official said.

Also in Paktia, four U.S. soldiers were wounded in a clash with Taliban insurgents on Thursday.

FARAH - Five Taliban insurgents were killed in a clash with police on Friday in the western province of Farah, an official in the area said.

* NANGARHAR - A suicide bomber failed to hit a convoy carrying foreign troops in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Friday, an official said. Only the bomber was killed.

*TIRIN KOT - Seventeen militants were killed on Thursday when they attacked a patrol of Afghan and U.S.-led troops in Tirin Kot in the southern province of Uruzgan, the U.S. military said in a statement. It did not say if there were any casualties among the Afghan or U.S. troops.

Reuters could not establish contact with the Taliban to seek their comments about any of the incidents.
