DETROIT (Reuters) - Chrysler LLC is recalling 6,692 Dodge Journey crossovers for the 2009 model year because of defects in the engine wire harness that may damage electrical circuits, the automaker said on Monday.

The recall affects vehicles equipped with 3.5-liter engines, in which the engine wire harness could be chafed by contact with the transaxle mount and create malfunctions of various electrical circuits, Chrysler said in a statement.

The struggling No. 3 U.S. automaker sold 17,569 Journey crossovers in the first five months of 2008.

No accidents or injuries have been reported related to the defects, Chrysler said.

It said owners of the affected vehicles would be notified beginning this month and inspection and repair would be conducted at no cost to the owners.
