Aetna backs forecast after Coventry warning

NEW YORK, June 19 (Reuters) - Health insurer Aetna Inc (AET.N) on Thursday reaffirmed its second-quarter and full-year earnings forecasts a day after rival Coventry Health Care Inc (CVH.N) cut its outlook.

Aetna said it still expects operating earnings per share of of 93 cents for the second quarter and $4.00 for the full year.

Aetna said its medical cost trends in the second quarter have been in line with its expectations and consistent with its prior forecast. (Reporting by Lewis Krauskopf, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
