Statement From the Knox and Mellas families

SEATTLE, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The charges recommended by Prosecutor
Mignini against our daughter Amanda come as no surprise. From the very
beginning of the investigation into the tragic and senseless murder of
Meredith Kercher, and even before evidence had been gathered and processed,
Prosecutor Mignini has been wedded to the theory that Amanda and two others
were responsible for Meredith's murder.
Two independent media investigations into this tragic crime have come to
the conclusion that there is no evidence to link Amanda to this crime, and a
third has called into question the gathering and processing of that evidence
as well as the way in which the investigation has been conducted. Yet
Prosecutor Mignini, through selective leaks to the media, and contrary to the
testimony of expert witnesses, continues to try to build a case against her.
We know our daughter is innocent and we will continue to support her in
every way possible. We look forward to her eventual release and to her being
found innocent of the charges against her.
