U.S. Department of Labor Announces $2.4 Million Grant to Help Indiana Cleanup
and Recovery From Severe Storms and Flooding

WASHINGTON,June 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Labor
today announced a $2,400,000 grant to the state of Indiana to fund the
creation of approximately 200 temporary jobs for cleanup and recovery efforts
underway as a result of recent severe storms and flooding.

"This $2.4 million grant will provide temporary jobs for workers to help
Indiana communities recover from the recent storm and flooding damage," said
Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao. "A portion of the grant will help
residents with basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter."

On June 8, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared 29 counties
in Indiana as eligible for FEMA's Public Assistance program. Those counties
are: Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Clay, Daviess, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin,
Greene, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Madison,
Monroe, Morgan, Ohio, Owen, Randolph, Ripley, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Union,
Vermillion, Vigo and Wayne.

The grant, awarded to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, will
provide funding to create temporary employment on projects that provide
cleanup, demolition, repair, renovation and reconstruction of damaged
structures and public lands within affected communities. Funds also will be
used for projects that provide food, clothing, shelter and other types of
humanitarian assistance.

National Emergency Grants are part of the secretary of labor's discretionary
fund and are awarded based on a state's ability to meet specific guidelines.
