CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa--(Business Wire)--
Qwest Communications (NYSE: Q) today announced the opening of a
center to help flood victims in their recovery efforts in Cedar
Rapids. The center will have Qwest associates on hand to assist with
any communications needs.

Phones are available for free calling along with high-speed

who are still without power. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
at 615 3rd Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids.

Qwest has extensive disaster preparedness plans in place and has
been proactive in moving at-risk equipment and responding quickly to
the flooding. That quick work kept most customers with service during
the flooding.

"The employees at Qwest have been very responsive to the requests
from the public safety community and the businesses affected by the
flooding within the state of Iowa. Based on the comments we have
heard, the customer service we have received from Qwest has been
excellent," said Barbara Vos, Iowa E-911 program manager for Iowa
Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Qwest technicians from Iowa and several other states have been
working around the clock. Those technicians were able to keep Qwest's
critical services intact and are helping with any recovery

All services have been maintained with only isolated
outages. Qwest continues to offer free Call Forwarding to customers in
Iowa who are impacted due to damages from the flooding. Call
