Judge Orders Ex-Husband to Pay Alimony From Beyond the Grave
CHICAGO, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the Appellate Court of Illinois
will review Judge Mark Drummond's decision ordering David Walker to pay
alimony to his ex-wife, even after his death. "The traditional marriage vow
'til death do us part' has been nullified in Judge Drummond's courtroom in
Quincy, Illinois," comments one of David Walker'sChicago attorneys, Jeffery
M. Leving. "Death will not part the former Mrs. Walker with Mr. Walker's
money. This may be an incentive to never divorce, but I strongly object to
this decision and we are appealing it," Leving continues. "This decision
clearly perpetuates the 'meal ticket' stereotype of male value in marriage and
society."
The appeal filed in this case by the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving,
Ltd., is set for oral argument on Thursday, beginning at eleven in the morning
before the Appellate Court of Illinois, Fourth District, in Springfield,
Illinois. Andrey Filipowicz, representing the Leving Law Firm, will be
arguing the case on behalf of David Walker. Andrey Filipowicz has been
selected by his peers in the legal community as one of Illinois top attorneys
and honored as an "Illinois Super Lawyer", representing the top practicing
attorneys in Illinois.
