Telenor CEO declines to detail M&A plans

OSLO, June 19 (Reuters) - Norwegian telecom group Telenor (TEL.OL) will not detail its merger and acquistion plans, Chief Executive Jon Fredrik Baksaas said on Thursday.

"I will not comment on specific potential transactions... because if I say 'yes, we're considering this or that' at one point, then 'no' at another occasion, then that speculation is ongoing whether we like it or not," he told investors and journalists at the company's capital markets day event.

Media reports have said Telenor is interested in creating a Nordic telecoms giant by buying Swedish-Finnish TeliaSonera (TLSN.ST), which has rejected a $41 billion takeover bid by France Telecom (FTE.PA). (Reporting by Wojciech Moskwa)
