Nigerian navy says U.S. captain taken by gunmen
ABUJA |
ABUJA (Reuters) - The U.S. captain of an oil supply vessel operating off Nigeria was kidnapped by gunmen on Thursday, shortly after they attacked Royal Dutch Shell's main offshore oilfield, the Nigerian navy said.
"The captain of the Solar Tide, an American citizen, was abducted 25 nautical miles west of the Pennington River entrance. The vessel was attacked by armed men in speedboats," Nigerian navy spokesman Henry Babalola said.
