BOZEMAN, Mont., June 23, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Montana State University Bobcats have selected FieldTurf for Bobcat Stadium. This announcement was jointly made by FieldTurf Tarkett CEO Joe Fields and Montana State University Athletic Director Peter Fields. The Bobcats, who have been playing on a natural grass surface since 1893 at their old stadium and the current Bobcat Stadium, will have FieldTurf installed in time for the 2008 season. Montana State becomes the second school in the Big Sky Conference to have FieldTurf installed on campus. The Portland State Vikings opted for FieldTurf in 1998 and again in 2007. "FieldTurf is a leader in the industry, and we're excited about this choice," said Montana State University Athletic Director, Peter Fields. "Of the 32 teams in the National Football League, 21 play and/or practice on FieldTurf, and of the teams in the six BCS conferences, over 50 have FieldTurf. Adding FieldTurf changes the complexion of our Stadium and improves the opportunity to compete for our student-athletes." "This is the second time in the last two years I've been involved in this process, and in examining different turf options at both Drake and Montana State, I believe that FieldTurf is the unquestioned leader in the synthetic turf industry," stated Montana State head football coach Rob Ash. "Its playability and safety make it the standard bearer, and it will give our student-athletes the best possible opportunity to succeed." "We couldn't be happier that Montana State has put their faith in our product and our company," said FieldTurf Tarkett CEO Joe Fields. "With over 100 FieldTurf installations throughout the NCAA, we are confident that the Bobcats, their coaching staff, the administration, and the fans will come to love this FieldTurf surface. We realize that this field at Bobcat Stadium is one of the few synthetic turf installations in Montana and we are positive that organizations across the state will be pleased with what they see at Bobcat Stadium for years to come."
