Olympics-Bulgarian shooter tests positive for cocaine
SOFIA, June 24 |
SOFIA, June 24 (Reuters) - Bulgarian shooter Antoaneta Boneva has tested positive for cocaine and will be disqualified from the country's Olympic team, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee said on Tuesday.
"Boneva was checked in May at a competition in Italy and the tests were made in the Italian doping laboratory," the committee said in a statement on its Web site. "She drops out of the Olympics in Beijing."
Boneva, 22, was due to take part in the 25-metre rapid fire pistol competition at August's Games.
She would most likely be replaced by another Bulgarian shooter, the statement said. (Reporting by Anna Mudeva, Editing by Clare Fallon)
