Cablevision gets antitrust OK for Newsday

WASHINGTON | Tue Jun 24, 2008 12:15pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Cablevision Systems Corp (CVC.N) has received antitrust approval to acquire Newsday, the daily newspaper of New York's Long Island, U.S. officials said on Tuesday.

Antitrust authorities completed their review of the $650 million deal without taking any action to block it, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission said in a notice.

In May, Cablevision agreed to buy a 97 percent stake in Newsday Media Group from Tribune Co.
