NEW YORK, July 8 |
NEW YORK, July 8 (Reuters) - The dollar trimmed losses versus the yen on Tuesday after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the U.S. central bank may keep an emergency lending facility open for big Wall Street firms.
The dollar rose to 107.01 yen JPY= from 106.80 yen before Bernanke's remarks.
"We are currently monitoring developments in financial markets closely and considering several options, including extending the duration of our facilities for primary dealers beyond year-end, should the current unusual and exigent circumstances continue to prevail in dealer funding markets," Bernanke said in prepared remarks on Tuesday.
