Broad Smiling Obama Leads McCain's Grin in Florida's First Smile Poll; Early
Webelection Vote Has Obama's Smile Taking a 2-to-1 Lead
Cosmetic Dental Expert Says Sen. Obama May Have an Edge With A Wider Smile and
Larger Teeth
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Presumptive Democratic
nominee Barack Obama's is out smiling his Republican opponent John McCain by
more than two to one in Florida's first Presidential Webelection being held
online at http://www.smileperfect.com/forpresident/.
According to cosmetic dental expert, Dr. William L. Balanoff, Sen. Obama's
lead in the early tally may be due to Obama's wider, broader smile and larger
teeth as opposed to Sen. McCain's more retrained, narrower smile. So far
Obama has 120 votes compared to McCain's 74.
Both candidates are excellent smilers with nice straight teeth, but Obama
may have a slight edge in brightness over the duller color of McCain's
choppers, he said.
According to Balanoff, many candidates in the past have smiled their way
right into The White House because of the larger teeth and wider smiles.
Among his all-time favorite smilers are presidents Ronald Reagan, John F.
Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Dr. Balanoff says that there are a number of things each candidate can do
to improve their standings in the smile polls.
"McCain can definitely benefit from a teeth whitening program and there
are some small areas in both the upper and lower jaw where a few teeth can be
capped better," said Balanoff.
Obama's upper lip is a little hyper mobile and displays a little too much
gum (a gummy smile). A little well placed Botox could calm down that upper
lip, adds Balanoff.
Many presidents had terrible teeth. President Washington had dentures that
were ill-fitting and caused pain upon chewing. President John Adams was
toothless upon his death, which was typical during that time.
