UPDATE 1-CSG Systems Q2 profit beats Street, raises '08 outlook

July 22 (Reuters) - CSG Systems International Inc (CSGS.O), a customer-care services provider, posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings, helped by recent acquisitions, and raised its 2008 profit forecast.
For the second quarter, the company earned $13.3 million, or 40 cents a share, compared with $15.6 million, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 17 percent to $116.9 million, helped by additional revenue from the acquisition of DataProse Inc, a privately held provider of direct mail services, in April.
Analysts had expected the company to earn 38 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $116.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
The company had about 33.3 million weighted-average shares outstanding in the latest quarter, compared with 42.3 million a year earlier.
Looking ahead, the company expects to earn $1.58 to $1.64 a share in 2008, up from its prior view of $1.55 to $1.62 a share.
It sees revenue of $470 million to $475 million for the year, compared with $467 million to $475 million it previously forecast.
Analysts on average were expecting earnings of $1.59 a share, before special items, on revenue of $468.1 million for the year.
Shares of the Englewood, Colorado-based company closed up 26 cents at $15.51 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Deepti Govind in Bangalore; Editing by Deepak Kannan)
