New Demron-W Technology Awarded NFPA Class 2 Certification, Launched as World's Only Protective Ensemble for All Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Incidents

MIAMI--(Business Wire)--
Ronald DeMeo, MD, MBA, president and chief executive officer with
Radiation Shield Technologies (RST), today announced the new Demron-W
technology has been awarded NFPA Class 2 Certification for Protective
Ensembles for First Responders to CBRN Terrorism Incidents. RST
enhanced its original Demron nuclear-radiation protection material to
enable it to block all biological- and chemical-warfare agents, making
the new Demron-W the world's first and only protective ensemble for
all types of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents.

Demron and the new Demron-W, RST's core technologies, consist of
an advanced radiopaque nano-polymeric compound fused between layers of
fabric and manufactured into several lightweight, nuclear-radiation
blocking garments, including full-body suits, vests, blankets and
medical X-ray vests and aprons. The company will continue to sell both
Demron and Demron-W product lines.

"Our military and first-responders traditionally have had to
choose what protective suit to wear according to the specific threat
they faced, and our new Demron-W suits eliminate the guesswork by
providing complete protection from all types of chemical, biological,
radiological and nuclear hazards," said DeMeo, the surgeon who
developed the Demron technology. "Radiation Shield Technologies
remains committed to developing advanced personal-protection solutions
while promoting awareness, education and scientific research to
advance the field."

Demron-W fabric passed all tests in accordance with the Class 2
requirements of NFPA 1994-2007 Standard on Protective Ensembles for
First Responders to CBRN Terrorism Incidents. Underwriters
Laboratories (UL) awarded the certification. The official
certification may be viewed on UL's Web site at http://www.ul.com. To
receive the NFPA Class 2 certification, protective materials must pass
tests for permeation resistance and offer protection against several
chemical warfare agents, including mustard gas, soman, and liquid and
gaseous industrious chemicals. In other studies and tests, Demron has
been proved to block gamma rays, X-rays and nuclear emissions by the
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, part of the National Nuclear
Security Administration within the U.S. Department of Energy, as well
as the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Columbia University
College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Demron technologies provide more protection than the current NBC
suits, which offer no shielding against ionizing radioactive sources,
such as dirty bombs and nuclear spills. Demron is the only
personal-protection system that provides complete alpha, beta and
low-energy gamma protection along with total nuclear-radiation
protection. Demron technologies are deployed worldwide by NATO, NASA,
the National Guard, US Navy, UAE and the governments of South Korea,
China, Saudi Arabia and Australia, among others. Scientists have
selected it for space suits for future Mars and other space travel.

Demron, made of liquid metal, is designed to feel cool and
flexible and enable users to perform a full range of duties. It is a
lead-free, toxin-free, and PVC-free material that allows heat
dissipation and resists chemical penetration and cracks.
