FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeSync Corporation
announced today that it has joined the Continua Health Alliance -- a
non-profit, open industry alliance of healthcare and technology companies
collaborating in order to improve the quality of personal healthcare. Through
Continua, LifeSync will be able to collaborate with other industry leaders in
order to help establish standards for the application of wireless technologies
to health care.
"We are excited to be able to participate and contribute," said Shelley
Hartman, LifeSync's CEO. "We believe that our mission to improve patient
outcomes by applying wireless technologies to the acquisition and transmission
of patient vital signs integrates very well with what Continua is doing."
By participating in Continua, the company hopes to contribute to the
interoperability of wireless medical devices for better patient management.
"Our LifeSync(R) Wireless ECG System has been used by many critical care
hospitals for several years now," said Mark Phelps, Ph.D., Senior Vice
President of Research & Development for LifeSync. "We've learned some valuable
lessons about the use of wireless technologies in a rigorous acute care
setting that can greatly help the development of technologies for home
health."
LifeSync Corporation is a medical device company dedicated to the
continued development, marketing and sale of the LifeSync(R) Wireless System.
The LifeSync(R) System is the first universal wireless electrocardiogram (ECG)
data communication system appropriate for use in hospital and outpatient
settings where cardiac ECG and respiration monitoring are required. The
LifeSync(R) System utilizes Bluetooth(R) communications technology and
interfaces with existing patient monitoring equipment to allow healthcare
facilities to monitor patients wirelessly. The system is used with LifeSync
LeadWear(R) disposable products which replace traditional reusable lead wires.
In many hospitals the LifeSync(R) System has demonstrated several important
clinical and economic benefits including improved signal continuity and
quality, increased productivity and decreased risk to patients of hospital
acquired infections. LifeSync's products and systems are registered with the
FDA and sold to hospitals and stress labs across the United States.
