Howard Teicher of Expand Networks to Address WAN Optimization in Mobile Network-Centric Warfare Environments at TechNet MidAmerica

COLLINSVILLE, Ill.--(Business Wire)--
Expand Networks, a leader in application acceleration over the
wide area network (WAN) and positioned by Gartner in the Leaders
Quadrant in their Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers
2007, today announced that Howard Teicher, Vice President, Public
Sector & Satellite Markets will address TechNet MidAmerica on the
subject of "WAN Optimization in Mobile Network Centric Warfare
Environments." The session will take place during the conference at
3:45 p.m. on July 22 at the Mississippian Room, Gateway Convention
Center, in Collinsville, Ill. Expand Networks will also be exhibiting
at TechNet MidAmerica.

This year's conference theme, "Distribution Visibility and Data
Availability for the Warfighter," evokes several important concepts.
The first of these is the need to leverage knowledge via information
technology that empowers smarter decisions for warfighters. The
Department of Defense's need for operational readiness, mobilization
and war-fighting capabilities are extreme. Warfighters need effective
support that allows them to see where their critical requirements are
in the distribution process so that they can plan and fight
accordingly. The conference also recognizes the need to provide the
warfighter with secure access to all relevant information needed for
mission success. These elements for operational readiness must be
continuously available.

In line with this theme, Mr. Teicher's session will focus on how
WAN Optimization helps overcome the limitations of deployed
communications infrastructure while enabling broadband-like networking
on the move and at the halt. Two critical battlefield lessons learned
from Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) included the needs for more
bandwidth and to conduct command and control while in constant motion.
The limited availability and reduced bandwidth of traditional beyond
line of sight (BLOS) ultra-high frequency (UHF) tactical satellite
(TACSAT) communications networks proved untenable for modern warfare,
as the demands of IT systems greatly exceed the capacities of such
networks. As Mr. Teicher will explain, state-of-the art WAN
optimization technology can provide a solution to these problems.

"One of the distinguishing aspects of Expand is our ability to
address a whole spectrum of WAN Optimization issues, including the
crucial wartime applications that Howard will discuss," said Adam
Davison, Corporate Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Expand
Networks. "As one of Expand's senior executives, who helped establish
our Satellite Communications division and has held key government
positions related to defense, Howard's expertise in this arena is
unquestionable and extremely relevant at this point in our history."

Previous to his role at Expand Networks, Mr. Teicher served in the
White House on the staff of the National Security Council as Senior
Director for Political-Military Affairs and Director for Near East and
South Asian Affairs from 1982 to 1987, and at the Departments of State
and Defense from 1977 to 1982. He is also a syndicated columnist for
the Los Angeles Times and the author of Twin Pillars to Desert Storm:
America's Flawed Vision in the Middle East from Nixon to Bush.
