Sweepstakes Marks 'Grand Opening' of New Borders.com; Winner to Receive $1,000
Borders Gift Card to Spend Online or In Store toward 'Dream Library'

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To celebrate the
"grand opening" of the new Borders.com, the company has launched a sweepstakes
where one lucky winner will receive a $1,000 Borders gift card to build a
"dream library" of favorite books, movies and music titles. To enter,
customers simply visit www.borders.com/grandopening where they'll view a 90
second video tour of the innovative features of the new Borders.com and
register for the sweepstakes. By registering, customers will also receive an
instant gift.

Sweepstakes entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EDT, July 31. The
winner of the $1,000 gift card will be notified no later than Aug. 20. The
gift card may be redeemed online at Borders.com or at any Borders or
Waldenbooks store nationwide.
"We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Borders.com,"
said Kevin Ertell, senior vice president of e-business for Borders Group. "By
creating a sweepstakes where customers can receive an instant gift -- as well
as the opportunity to win the grand prize of a $1,000 Borders gift card --
we're making it fun and worthwhile for customers to discover all the great
features of the new Borders.com."
Borders.com brings a real bookstore experience to life online with
innovative features such as the Magic Shelf(TM), a virtual book shelf that
allows customers to view book, music and movie titles much the same way they
would browse the book tables and displays in their favorite Borders stores.
The Magic Shelf can also be personalized based on a customer's interests.
Using the "Picked for You" feature, customers can simply select the categories
in which they are interested -- whether mystery books, classical music or
foreign films -- and the Magic Shelf will stock the "Picked for You" shelf
with titles from the selected categories.
Customers can also enjoy Borders Media, a collection of exclusive and
original video programs produced by Borders. Programs include "Borders Book
Club" a professionally produced show featuring real-life neighborhood book
club meetings with the author there in person. The program has featured such
bestselling authors such as Mitch Albom, Marisa de los Santos and Stephenie
Meyer. "Live at 01," another Borders Media program, brings all the energy and
intimacy of an event recorded live at Borders' first store in Ann Arbor to
customers online. Guests featured on "Live at 01" have included authors such
as Pulitzer Prize winner Junot Diaz and Anne Lamott, singers such as Joss
Stone and Jewel, as well as physician and author Deepak Chopra.
With the advent of the new Borders.com, Borders Rewards loyalty program
members -- which now number over 27 million -- can enjoy the convenience of
earning and redeeming their "Borders Bucks" and Rewards coupons online as well
as in stores. During the coming weeks, the retailer will introduce Borders.com
into its superstores nationwide via existing in-store computer kiosks.
Customers can order online at the kiosks if they can't find an item in the
store and have that item shipped to their homes or back to the store.
