WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
Express, The Washington Post's free daily tabloid newspaper,
officially relaunched its Web site on July 22, under the name
expressnightout.com to reflect its increased emphasis on local events
and nightlife and its mission to become Express readers' go-to guide
to the region's abundant entertainment offerings.
Among the site's new features is The Scene, an easy-to-navigate
search tool that gives users swift access to events, restaurants and
movies throughout the D.C. area. Readers looking for after-work
activities can also browse the site's expanded Top Stops blog, which
serves as a quick and reliable guide to the day's most interesting
events.
Other new elements include the Sound Bets blog, which reviews and
comments on music and hosts free MP3 downloads; an entertainment
gossip section called Star Tracker; and dispatches from a variety of
Express bloggers, including psychologist and "Baggage Check" columnist
Andrea Bonior.
Visitors to expressnightout.com can also:
-- Find clubs, restaurants, theaters, museums and other
entertainment choices near any given Metro station using our
map-based Metro Links feature
-- Read entertainment and lifestyle stories from Express' Weekend
Pass, Weekend Styles and Fit sections
-- Weigh in on the Express daily poll question
-- Search for jobs, cars, apartments, homes, tickets and more in
the classifieds
-- Test their wits with Sudoku and crossword puzzles
-- Download past editions of Express
"The new entertainment guide and other site enhancements make
expressnightout.com the perfect complement to the Express newspaper,"
said Express Publisher Chris Ma. "Expressnightout offers search
capabilities that will help our young, active audience quickly find
the best places to go and things to do in the D.C. area."
Express was launched by a unit of The Washington Post Company in
August 2003. It currently distributes over 190,000 copies of the
newspaper along the Metrorail system and in urban locations with heavy
daytime foot traffic and has over 290,000 readers. The publication
features a quick news summary of the day's top events as well as
distinctive coverage of area nightlife.
