NEW YORK, July 23 (Reuters) - Aflac Inc (AFL.N), the world's largest seller of supplemental disability insurance, said on Wednesday net income rose 16 percent in the second quarter, helped by stronger revenue reflecting a stronger Japanese yen to the dollar.

A significant portion of the company's business comes from Japan.

Net earnings increased to $483 million, or $1 a share, from $415 million, or 84 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter. (Reporting by Lilla Zuill; editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
