July 23 (Reuters) - U.S. warehouse club operator Costco Wholesale Corp (COST.O) forecast a fourth-quarter profit below Wall Street estimates, citing higher energy costs and lower margins from merchandise sales at its stores.

The company said it expects fourth-quarter earnings to be well below the current First Call consensus estimate of $1.00 per share. (Reporting by Dhanya Skariachan in Bangalore; editing by Sue Thomas)
