Pogo Linux and Nexenta Announce New StorageDirector Z-Series Storage
Solutions, Featuring NexentaStor(TM)
Delivers Leadership ROI by Leveraging ZFS for Enterprise Storage
Manageability, Scalability, and Reliability

PORTLAND, Ore. and PALO ALTO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Pogo Linux,
a Seattle-based storage server manufacturer, and Nexenta Systems, developer of
NexentaStor(TM), the leading open storage solution based upon the
revolutionary file system ZFS, announced the immediate availability of a new
set of storage appliances featuring NexentaStor at this week's OSCon 2008.
These storage appliances, called the StorageDirector Z-Series, deliver
enterprise class NAS functionality built upon the ZFS based NexentaStor
software on integrated Pogo Linux hardware platforms.
"NexentaStor with ZFS delivers a new paradigm of scalability, ease of use,
and data integrity to enterprise NAS deployments," said Brian Babineau, Senior
Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "Customers are looking for scalability
without complexity, and today's announcement means Nexenta and Pogo Linux are
extremely well positioned to meet these demands effectively and economically."
The StorageDirector Z-Series NAS appliances leverage NexentaStor and the
ZFS file system to offer many advantages including inherent virtualization to
pool storage resources, improving scalability and utilization. In addition,
customers can scale without limits as, unlike legacy storage solutions, there
are no limits on file system sizes or on the number of incremental back-ups.
The appliances also include search capabilities to manage highly granular
backup policies, and end to end data integrity to eliminate the risk of silent
data corruption that impacts many SATA based solutions.
"NexentaStor delivers commercial-grade reliability and value, giving us a
dramatically lower-cost approach to leverage open storage," says Joe Little,
Principal Architect of Stanford University. "We have so far deployed over
50TB of first and second tier storage at Stanford using NexentaStor, with
PogoLinux providing a stable deployment platform."
"Many of our clients have asked us to deliver a pre-installed hardware
appliance that is optimized for our NexentaStor NAS software," says Evan
Powell, CEO of Nexenta. "Pogo Linux came highly recommended for their open
storage expertise, manufacturing efficiency, and customer service and support.
The integrated solutions we are announcing today will enable our customers to
enjoy the benefits of our ZFS file system based NexentaStor on an
enterprise-grade, reliable, and affordable hardware platform."
"We have worked with many storage companies over the years but Nexenta is
the first to offer a comprehensive set of enterprise features with the
convenience of off-the-shelf storage," says Erik Logan, President and CTO of
Pogo Linux. "We are excited to combine our many years of storage hardware
expertise with Nexenta open storage software to create this powerful
integrated storage appliance."
Pogo Linux's nine years' experience in deploying and supporting NAS in
heterogeneous environments, as well as the feedback gained from Nexenta's
3,000+ installations of NexentaStor, helped Nexenta and PogoLinux design the
new StorageDirector Z-Series NAS appliances to provide enterprise level
capabilities at breakthrough costs.
    Three configurations are currently available:

StorageDirector Z100 NAS Appliance: 1TB of raw storage, starting at $3,555

StorageDirector Z300 NAS Appliance: 5TB of raw storage, expandable via
SAS, starting at $6,999
StorageDirector Z400 NAS Appliance: 10 TB of raw storage, expandable via
SAS, starting at $8,999
The StorageDirector NAS appliances are shipping immediately, and can be
purchased through the Pogo Linux website. An online demo is also available on
the Nexenta website for customers who want to test-drive NexentaStor. For
