USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems Association, and Linux Pro Magazine
Team to Offer Live Broadcasts of USENIX Conferences

BERKELEY, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The USENIX Association, a
leading forum for presenting cutting-edge developments in computing, today
announced that it is partnering with Linux Pro Magazine to offer live
broadcasts of select USENIX conferences. By offering live streaming, USENIX
continues to fulfill its mission of disseminating computing research to the
community at large.

The upcoming 17th USENIX Security Symposium, July 28-Aug. 1 in San Jose,
Calif., http://www.usenix.org/events/sec08/ and the 22nd Large Installation
System Administration Conference, Nov. 9-14 in San Diego,
http://www.usenix.org/events/lisa08/ will both feature live streaming of
select conference sessions. For viewers who don't have time to watch in
real-time, all the talks can be reviewed individually at the viewers'
convenience in the video archive.

In addition, the Security Symposium keynote, "Dr. Strangevote or: How I
Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Paper Ballot," by Debra Bowen,
California Secretary of State, will be free and available to everyone.

"USENIX strives to make it as convenient as possible for the computing
community to benefit from the leading research presented by the industry
experts that our conferences attract," said Ellie Young, Executive Director,
USENIX. "Live streaming is another way in which USENIX can distribute research
and foster technical excellence and innovation in the computing world."

Live streaming is offered through the Linux New Media Live Stream solution and
requires only a Web browser and Internet connection. Developed with open
source software, the live stream solution is platform independent and does not
require special software. Select USENIX conferences can be followed from a
computer as a live video with a soundtrack, along with high-resolution slides.
An integrated text-based chat forum offers the opportunity to provide feedback
to the live stream moderators or to ask for support if needed. For pricing
structure and to register, see http://www.linuxpromagazine.com/usenix_sec08.

"We are delighted to be working with USENIX," said Brian Osborn, CEO of Linux
New Media USA. "Their unique content paired with our innovative solution and
international network provides IT professionals worldwide with an easy and
affordable way to stay abreast of key developments in information technology."
