Time Domain's New PLUS(TM) 2.0 System Delivers Ultra Wideband (UWB) Real-Time
Precision Location at 'Wi-Fi Pricing'
Interaction-Level Real-Time Location at a More Affordable Cost

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move to deliver improved
real-time precision asset visibility in healthcare, manufacturing,
safety/security and retail environments at a more affordable price, Time
Domain Corporation (http://www.timedomain.com), a leader in precision ultra
wideband (UWB) real-time location systems (RTLS), today announced the
availability of its new PLUS(TM) 2.0 product line. PLUS 2.0 now delivers the
superior location performance of UWB at a total cost of ownership comparable
to other less precise RTLS systems.
The new PLUS 2.0 platform is a highly flexible, enterprise-level UWB
system that monitors the interaction of thousands of assets, as close as 12
inches, through multiple walls and floors and in "RF noisy" indoor
environments with sub-room (portion of a single room) level accuracy. With
improved location accuracy and interaction-level asset information in real
time, end customers can maximize workflow efficiency, reduce operational costs
and improve asset utilization while linking an asset to a business process for
auditing or compliance.
"Our partners and their customers can now leverage UWB's superior
performance for real-time work-in-process visibility versus other active RFID
technologies at a very competitive total cost of ownership," said Greg
Clawson, vice president of sales and marketing at Time Domain. "With the
release of PLUS 2.0, we are introducing enhanced UWB precision functionality
as well as important new features that streamline the installation process and
reduce ongoing support costs when deploying RTLS applications."
Time Domain has added a number of advanced features to its PLUS 2.0
Location Engine, providing the company's partners and customers four core
levels of UWB precision monitoring that are easily adapted for a variety of
application requirements. The PLUS 2.0 Location Engine, which computes the
location of PLUS(TM) tags and provides it to the enterprise application
software, offers:
    -- Zone-based, long-range > 150'/50M location tracking of 1,000s of items
simultaneously;
    -- 1-d, long-range > 90'/30M tracking of an assembly process with < 36"/1m
of accuracy along the line, making it ideal for work-in-process (WIP)
manufacturing, especially in highly metallic areas where other RFID
technologies fail;
-- 2-d, single floor < 36"/1M precision tracking of people, assets and
processes for true operational asset visibility; and
    -- 2.5-d, multi-floor < 36"/1M precision tracking for true enterprise
scale solutions in large buildings, ensuring 'what floor' as well as 'where on
the floor' location.
In addition, PLUS 2.0 eliminates the cumbersome installation of reference
tags for calibration recovery during a power outage, or system downtime for
maintenance or repair. This ensures 24 x 7 operational availability of the
PLUS 2.0 location system.
Sysgen, a Time Domain partner, completed the design and deployment of a 50
reader PLUS 2.0 UWB solution, integrated with its Tracpoint application, at
the Nesconset Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, a 240-resident, 200,000
square-foot healthcare facility. Implemented over two days in June 2008, the
PLUS 2.0 upgrade is delivering real-time precision tracking of patients and
assets resulting in significant productivity gains.
"With PLUS 2.0 providing reliable sub-room monitoring, the real-time
location of our assets, employees and patients is always available. If the
power goes down or we need to perform maintenance, the system is designed to
come back up instantly. Because we get location data every second with
sub-room level precision, we can replace our old wandering prevention
technology and monitor the whereabouts and condition of our patients
everywhere in the facility. RTLS is the future of long-term care and our
investment in the Sysgen/Time Domain Solution allows us to positively impact
our bottom line while improving the care of our residents," said Robert
Heppenheimer, owner and executive director of Nesconset Center for Nursing and
Rehabilitation.
The PLUS 2.0 UWB product line is available now through Time Domain's
network of value added resellers. For more information on PLUS 2.0, visit
