Fundraising efforts set new record for donations by SaaS-based
                  communications technology provider
OTTAWA--(Business Wire)--
Software as a Service (SaaS) communications technology provider
Protus(R) has been involved with the Canadian Cancer Society and its
Relay for Life program for several years, raising funds for the
organization's vital research. This year Protus also leveraged the
company's fast-growing subscriber base for its flagship MyFax Internet
fax service. And it has paid big dividends. The company today
announced it is donating a total of $15,000 to the Society, Protus'
largest total contribution to date.

Relay for Life was adopted as Protus' "charity of choice" by its
employees four years ago. Since that time, Protus employees have
raised funds through bagel sales, raffles and other activities, as
well as participation in the annual 12-hour Relay for Life event held
each year in Ottawa. Traditionally, Protus has matched the funds
raised by its employees to complete the donation.

For 2008, the company decided to try something different. Rather
than simply writing a check, it offered to donate $1 of the fee for
every new subscriber to its MyFax Internet fax service to the Canadian
Cancer Society. The promotion worked, as evidenced by the record total
contribution for the year.

The Canadian Cancer Society is the largest charitable funder of
cancer research in Canada. Its Relay for Life events are comprised of
teams of 10 people who participate in a 12-hour overnight
non-competitive relay. The local events are a celebration of cancer
survival and a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have been
touched by cancer. The funds raised by Relay for Life support cancer
research, provide information and services for those affected by
cancer, and helps improve the quality of life for those living with
the disease.

"The Canadian Cancer Society is doing wonderful work on behalf of
all of us," said Joseph Nour, CEO of Protus. "Their research is
critical to finding a cure to this disease that has affected nearly
every life at one time or another. We are proud to be a corporate
sponsor, and to be able to make these ongoing contributions. We are
also proud that the total comes through the involvement of so many of
our people and not just a corporate check. That says a lot about the
employees who make up Protus."
