Renowned Gaylord National Resort chef to host special "Buy Local"
                         cooking demonstration
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.--(Business Wire)--
National Harbor's American Market is supporting Maryland's "Buy
Local Challenge" by encouraging local residents to take advantage of
the fresh produce grown by local farmers. This Saturday, July 26 at 10
a.m., the American Market will host a special public cooking
demonstration featuring Chef Wolfgang Birk, Executive Chef of Gaylord
National Resort's Old Hickory Steakhouse. Chef Birk will prepare two
culinary creations made with the fresh produce and goods available
from local farmers showcased at the American Market.

With local vendors featuring the best produce, pastries, crafts,
artwork, fashion, jewelry and flowers the region has to offer, the
American Market has become a popular Saturday morning destination.
From florists to glass blowers, jewelry designers to farmers, the
American Market at National Harbor is one of the most unique and
colorful outdoor markets in the area.

"We are extremely proud and excited about the opportunity to
support Maryland's Buy Local Initiative at our American Market where
we spotlight locally grown produce every Saturday," said Rocell
Viniard Vice President, Director of Marketing at National Harbor.
"Visitors to The American Market on July 26 will certainly be in for a
treat thanks to the talents of Chef Wolfgang Birk, who will be working
culinary magic with wonderful produce from our region."

The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC)
created the "Buy Local Challenge" initiative to boost the farm economy
and highlight the environmental and health benefits that local farms
provide. The Challenge, which asks people to pledge to eat at least
one item from a local farm every day, was kicked off by Gov. Martin
O'Malley on July 19 and continues through the 27.

National Harbor is a community unlike any other in the D.C.
region, designed to take full advantage of the most historic river in
the nation. Rising from the banks of the Potomac River just south of
the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Prince George's County, Md., National
Harbor is a 300-acre, mixed-used development designed to include five
hotels (including the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center),
thousands of residential and office units, tree-lined promenades with
scores of shops and restaurants, a marina and much more.
