RBTi, a leading IT security vendor, has announced a new solution
for securing Point-of-Sale machines, giving compliance with the
majority of PCI requirements
ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
In the wake of recent PCI-mandated crackdowns on small businesses,
Atlanta-based Information Security Vendor RBTi (www.rbt-inc.com) has
announced they have developed a new POS security solution, helping
businesses reach PCI compliance.

With drastic increases in security breaches among smaller
companies, and recent fines imposed due to Payment Card Industry
violations, RBTi saw the need for a comprehensive solution to aid
businesses in becoming PCI compliant. The complex and often
contradictory nature of PCI DSS has left many small-to-medium
businesses (SMBs) scrambling to make sense of the data security
standards. Moreover, the PCI standards necessitate proactive effort on
both the part of the businesses and their card payment processors.

RBTi CEO Mike Comm believes the time is right for SMB's to free
themselves from PCI-anxiety. "There are a few companies doing PCI
scanning and auditing, but no one was offering a security solution to
the overwhelming amount of compliance requirements the average
business has to meet. We needed a solution that offers active
protection in real-time, rather than just analyzing after-effects,"
says Comm.

While static firewalls offer a modicum of safety, they have been
found obsolete against the slew of dynamic web-based threats facing
businesses today. By presenting a solution that is actively monitored
and maintained, RBTi hopes to enable businesses to operate confident
of their compliance and security.

RBTi discovered that developing a solution that integrated with
POS software such as Aloha and Hotsauce added complexity to the task,
but were able to come up with an elegant solution that enables
transparent protection for their clients. Several major businesses in
Atlanta are already using the solution with great success.

Karim Hijazi, managing partner with RBTi, felt it was important to
spearhead the effort to protect POS systems and the customer data they
transmit. "PCI is preparing to drop like an anvil on small businesses,
and we want to be there to protect them. This is an ongoing effort to
maintain the balance between proper security and business continuity.
However, we feel we have created a solution that enables best business
practices while proactively protecting customer information and
attending to PCI requirements," said Hijazi.
