Automaker's 100th Anniversary Commemorated With 100 Years of Cadillac Style on
Display
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Saratoga Automobile
Museum will celebrate the General Motors Centennial with a focus on Cadillac,
America's iconic luxury car. A fabulous selection of historic Cadillacs, on
loan from the General Motors Heritage Collection, will be on display from July
27 through November 2.
"This exhibit is a wonderful representation of the impact that all General
Motors' brands have had in the United States and abroad, while also
illustrating the company's forward-thinking philosophy, with vehicles like the
2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid," said Karen Rafferty, Marketing Manager for
Cadillac in GM's Northeast region.
On July 26th, the Museum will host a preview of the exhibit at its annual
Summer Gala, where General Manager of the Cadillac Motor Division, James E.
Taylor will be the event's Honorary Chairman, and Ed Welburn, Vice President
General Motors Global Design, will speak about the past, present, and future
of GM car styling.
On display will be an exact replica of the first Cadillac, a 1902
single-cylinder model; a 1920 Model 59 sedan with custom coachwork designed by
Harley Earl, a 1931 Cadillac V-16 Touring car; a 1951 Cadillac Series 61 as
raced by Briggs Cunningham at Le Mans; a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado with the
brand's signature towering tailfins; the last 1976 Eldorado Convertible; the
breathtaking 2003 Cadillac Sixteen concept car and a contemporary Cadillac
CTS-VR racecar, among others.
In addition to the vehicles from the Heritage Collection, Billy F.
Gibbons, of the rock group, ZZ Top, has loaned his famed CadZZilla coupe,
designed by Larry Erickson, and built by Craig Naff and the late Boyd
Coddington. This iconic custom car, considered the finest example of its kind
in the 1990s, and a Hot Rod Magazine cover subject, will be on hand for the
entire run of the exhibit. This is the first time CadZZilla has been on the
East Coast in decades, and it's not to be missed. Also on display will be the
new, 2009 Escalade Hybrid, the world's first large luxury SUV Hybrid.
