PHILADELPHIA--(Business Wire)--
Embracing the theme What can we make possible for you? Rohm and
Haas (NYSE:ROH) introduced almost two dozen innovative environmentally
advanced products for the architectural and industrial coatings
markets at the recent American Coatings Show (ACS) in Charlotte, North
Carolina. The company's dramatic booth and "tunnel of innovation" set
the tone for visitors arriving to speak with Rohm and Haas technical
experts about the company's latest innovative products and
technologies developed to help coatings manufacturers make their
businesses more successful.

"A major part of our customers' success lies in their ability to
improve the performance of their coatings while meeting increasingly
stringent environmental regulations," says Clare Doyle, marketing
director, Architectural Coatings, North America. "The new products
introduced at ACS represent our commitment to develop innovative,
environmentally advanced technologies and products that help our
customers prosper."

For architectural/Decorative coatings: Innovative acrylic emulsion
polymers set new standards

Five new products within the Rhoplex(TM) series of acrylic
emulsion polymers were introduced at ACS, including low-VOC and
APEO-free Rhoplex(TM) Multilobe 400 and Rhoplex(TM) AC-464 acrylic
binders, which set new standards for exterior durability and adhesion.
Other new Rhoplex polymer products offer a range of exceptional
performance characteristics, including multi-substrate-capable
Rhoplex(TM) VSR-50 for flat through gloss coatings, Rhoplex(TM)
VSR-1050 for unequaled scrub resistance and washability in flat
through semigloss paints, and Rhoplex(TM) HG-706 for unsurpassed block
resistance in semigloss and gloss paints in all colors. For
outstanding color retention and durability in coatings for sports
surfaces such as tennis courts is new Rhoplex(TM) SS#4.

Also debuting at ACS for the architectural coatings market were
new environmentally advanced Avanse(TM) ST-410 acrylic emulsion for
semi-transparent deck and siding stains, and Avanse(TM) 412 acrylic
polymer, which provides greatly improved film integrity in very high
PVC formulations.

For industrial coatings: Environmentally advanced waterborne
products meet the performance challenge

The five new, high-performance acrylic binders introduced by Rohm
and Haas at ACS for industrial coatings applications are proof that
environmentally advanced products can stand up to harsh conditions and
difficult substrates. For example, new, versatile Maincote(TM)
waterborne acrylic resins (MAINCOTE(TM) EC-11, MAINCOTE(TM) AU-28 and
MAINCOTE(TM) HG-31) offer an excellent, low-VOC alternative to
solventborne systems while helping industrial coatings manufacturers
tackle performance challenges on masonry, steel and concrete
substrates. High-performance Avanse(TM) MV-100 waterborne resin
provides low VOCs and low odor, as well as excellent durability,
adhesion and corrosion resistance for coatings on metal and concrete.
And environmentally advanced RoShield(TM) 636 waterborne
styrene-acrylic emulsion is formulated for use in factory-applied wood
coatings and is particularly recommended for kitchen cabinets.

High-performance additives and biocides complete the picture

In addition to new products introduced specifically for the
architectural and industrial markets, Rohm and Haas also debuted
several coatings additives and biocides at ACS. For example, new
Acrysol(TM) RM-895 solvent-free rheology modifier provides both
enhanced viscosity stability upon the addition of colorant and
improved sag resistance in paints, while Acrysol RM-3000 provides a
unique rheology profile with enhanced formulating flexibility.
Further, Tamol(TM) 945 high-solids, highly efficient pigment
dispersant provides considerable economic value to coatings
manufacturers. In the Rocima(TM) series of biocides, new introductions
included products that prevent broad-spectrum microbial growth in
paint while in the wet state (in the can) as well as on the dry paint
film (on the wall).

"The products introduced at ACS ... and the new products still in
the pipeline ... are built on Rohm and Haas's long-held leadership
position in acrylic technology and high-performance products for the
coatings market," says Colin Gouveia, marketing director, Functional
Polymers, North America. "The innovative thinking and technical
expertise we offer really do work together to make things possible for
our customers."
