MedcomSoft Selected by Maryland Health Care Commission for Electronic Health Record Provider Adoption Initiatives

TORONTO--(Business Wire)--
MedcomSoft Inc. (TSX: MSF) ("MedcomSoft" or "the Company") has
been selected by the Maryland Health Care Commission ("MHCC") to
participate in the Maryland Electronic Health Record (EHR) adoption
acceleration program. The MHCC is an independent state regulatory
agency that is committed to advancing the adoption and utilization of
health information technology to improve the quality, safety, and
efficiency of health care delivery. The MHCC, in collaboration with
the Maryland and DC Medical Societies, received the first flagship
award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid ("CMS") for the
upcoming EHR Demonstration project. MHCC selected participants from a
group of 2007 Certification Commission for Healthcare Information
Technology ("CCHIT") EHR providers who completed a stringent
evaluation process.

"MedcomSoft is honored to be among the selected vendors for this
groundbreaking initiative for EHR adoption," states Rob Wilson, chief
executive officer of MedcomSoft. "Since MedcomSoft earned the 2007
CCHIT certification, we were in consideration for the MHCC select
vendor initiative and one of 23 chosen from the 44 CCHIT certified
vendors."

The Maryland EHR adoption acceleration program is in conjunction
with the announcement by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for
12 community partners to begin this demonstration. The Maryland/DC
collaborative is one of the four communities in Phase One for
implementation including: Louisiana; Pittsburgh, PA (and surrounding
counties); and South Dakota (and surrounding counties in Iowa,
Minnesota, and North Dakota). The EHR demonstration will be
operational for a 5-year period. The first operational year of the
demonstration will provide payments to participating practices based
on CCHIT-certified EHR functionalities used to manage the care of
patients, with higher payment for more sophisticated healthcare
information technology use (e.g., use of the EHR to facilitate care
management activities, sharing of records among providers of care,
etc.). MHCC will provide comprehensive information to medical
organizations, associations, facilities, and physician practices to
promote the program and assist physicians in the transition to EHRs.
