TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

In accordance with the provisions of Listing Rule 12.6.4, the Board of Hays plc
advises that on 23 July 2008 it transferred 4,554 Ordinary Shares currently held 
in Treasury to satisfy awards under the `Hays plc Co-Investment Plan - 2004 offer'.

Following this transfer, Hays plc holds 87,614,736 Ordinary Shares in Treasury.
The number of shares in issue is 1,376,481,830 (excluding treasury shares).
