Spain's Mapfre posts 58 pc rise in H1 net profit

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish insurer Mapfre (MAP.MC) said on Wednesday its first-half net profit rose 57.7 percent year-on-year to 529.4 million euros ($832.9 million).

Mapfre, which has been expanding abroad and via joint ventures in Spain, said consolidated income rose 17.9 percent to 8.9 billion euros, and premiums rose 15.1 percent to 7.3 billion euros.
