Russian court asked to try TNK-BP labour case

MOSCOW, July 30 (Reuters) - Russia's labour agency has asked a court to hear a case into labour violations against senior management of BP's (BP.L) Russian oil venture TNK-BP TNBPI.RTS a spokeswoman for the agency said on Wednesday.

A senior official at the Moscow labour agency told Reuters earlier that it fined TNK-BP and its chief executive Robert Dudley for labour code violations.

A court could disqualify him from running a company for three years if the violations were not corrected, the official said.

Dudley left Russia last week after failing to renew his Russian visa, saying he and the company had been subject to a campaign of harassment. The company said he continued to fulfill his duties from an undisclosed location outside Russia.

The labour agency had raised questions about TNK-BP's use of foreign employees. BP's local partners, locked in a struggle with the oil major over control of the venture, have also complained about the use of foreign workers. (Reporting by Katya Golubkova)
