Turkey AK Party says ruling shows democracy won
ANKARA |
ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey's Labor Minister Faruk Celik said on Wednesday, according to CNN Turk broadcaster, that the Constitutional Court ruling not to ban the ruling AK Party was a victory for Turkish democracy.
The country's highest court earlier rejected a case to close the governing party on charges of seeking to introduce Islamic rule but imposed financial penalties on the party. No party member was banned.
