           Appointment of Dr. Anne Fairey as Non Executive Director            

Farnham, UK, 31 July 2008: Biocompatibles (LSE:BII) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Anne Fairey, BM., FRCP., MFPM(Dis)., as a Non Executive Director
as of 1 September 2008.

Dr. Fairey has extensive medical and medical marketing experience working with
major pharmaceutical companies and has co-authored a number of publications.

Anne Fairey qualified as a doctor from Southampton University in 1985, and went
on to develop her medical career with Southampton General Hospital and the
Central Middlesex Hospital, specialising in Oncology. She then went into
industry focusing on clinical research in oncology with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals
which then became Novartis and then with Sanofi-Synthelabo. Latterly she
returned to Novartis as Medical Director.

Gerry Brown, Chairman, commented "I am delighted to welcome Anne to the Board
of Biocompatibles. Her extensive knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical
affairs, oncology and clinical research will enhance the leadership of
Biocompatibles and I very much look forward to working with her".
