Sunbelt Software Announces New Anti-Malware Solution, VIPRE Enterprise

As part of its ongoing efforts to address the rapidly evolving malware
landscape facing enterprises, Sunbelt Software today announced the
release and general availability of VIPRE Enterprise(TM). Following on
the heels of last week's successful launch of the consumer version, VIPRE
Enterprise combines antivirus, antispyware, anti-rootkit and other
technologies into a single agent handled through a robust central
management console. Utilizing next-generation technology, the product
provides comprehensive endpoint malware protection without the performance
and resource headaches of many traditional enterprise antivirus products.

At VIPRE Enterprise's core is an antivirus and antispyware agent that

VIPRE Enterprise uses multiple techniques to inspect the characteristics
of all types of potentially threatening files. From simple signature-based
detection to dynamic, sophisticated analysis of malware files, VIPRE
quickly determines whether a file is good or bad -- enabling comprehensive
detection of both existing and new unidentified threats.

VIPRE Enterprise's agent scanning technology automatically scans user
machines for malware threats and leverages the Checkmark Anti-Virus
Desktop certified technology found in VIPRE's current consumer version.

Advanced anti-rootkit technology

VIPRE's all-new anti-rootkit technology finds and disables malicious
hidden processes, threats, modules, services, files, Alternate Data
Streams (ADS), or registry keys on a user's system. Removing rootkits is
supplemented by VIPRE's FirstScan(TM), which runs at the system's boot
time. FirstScan bypasses the Windows operating system, to directly scan
certain locations of the hard drive for malware, removing infections
where found.

Real-time monitoring with Active Protection(TM)

VIPRE's Active Protection delivers real-time monitoring and protection
against known and unknown malware threats. Active Protection works inside
the Windows kernel (the core of the operating system), watching for
malware and stopping it before it has a chance to execute on a user's
system. Active Protection incorporates signature detection, heuristics,
and behavioral detection.

Full protection against email-borne threats

VIPRE Enterprise includes comprehensive protection against viruses, with
direct support for Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail; and support
for any email program that uses POP3 and SMTP (such as Thunderbird,
IncrediMail, and Eudora).

With VIPRE Enterprise, administrators can easily create a customized
"malware command center" that gives instant access to their most used
reports and policy controls. The management console provides four
customizable dashboards for at-a-glance views of scanning and remediation
activities that show overall network health and performance.

Additionally, VIPRE Enterprise provides easy-to-understand alerts and
customizable views within the console grids. Visual indicators are
included to show security risk status of detected malware threats by
agent, making it faster and easier to determine what machines within the
network have been infected.

Enabled at the policy level, automatic deployment of agents to the network
allows administrators to specify any combination of machine lists, IP
addresses, IP ranges, IP subnets, and Active Directory Organizational
Units (OUs) to be resolved and deployed to without admin interaction. The
traditional methods of deployment such as console push and MSI packages
are also included.

and includes one year of support, updates, and product upgrades. The
upgrade to VIPRE Enterprise is available to all existing customers of
CounterSpy Enterprise who are currently under a maintenance plan for a
nominal fee. New customers can purchase VIPRE Enterprise on a per machine
basis. Pricing includes the first year maintenance and starts at $193.75
for 5 machines with a sliding scale discount based on number of machines.
